This was previously known as the Outstanding Dedication and Performance Award. It has been changed to the Assistant Superintendent of the Year to specifically recognise upcoming senior talent in greenkeeping. This award has been developed for employees who achieve outstanding work performance and demonstrate continual commitment and dedication for their prospective clubs.

This award is given in recognition of a Course Superintendent, Assistant Superintendent or Horticulturalist who has demonstrated excellence in environmental management of their course over the last 12 months.

Attributes that are taken into account include their commitment to excellence, knowledge of course / turfgrass management, use innovative techniques, and commitment to environment and sustainability.

Vince Church Apprentice of the Year award recognises the completion of your Certificate III in Sports Turf Management at TAFE and a commitment to the industry as judged by the NSWGCSA panel of Course Superintendents & NSWGCSA Life Members.

Vince Church was a pioneer in golf course superintendency and a NSWGCSA Life Member. At the young age of 13 he started earning money from caddying and hand weeding Parramatta grass at Concord Golf Club. Vince’s turf management career ended up nearly spanning fifty years. Vince was well known for his ability to produce excellent turf surfaces that were renowned throughout Australia. His pursuit to cultivate and promote the professional image of the superintendent was a major influence on turf managers. For his generation he was considered the prominent figure of turf management in Australia and was a true pioneer who developed the professionalism that we see in our industry today. The NSWGCSA honour Vince with this annual Graduate of the Year Award.
